THE ORIGIN STORY

1969: Acapulco

Enrique Corcuera, a Mexican businessman, adapts a fronton court at his home by adding walls to prevent the ball from escaping into his neighbor's yard. Padel was born from necessity and innovation.

1974: The European Leap

Alfonso de Hohenlohe introduces the sport to the Marbella Club in Spain. It quickly becomes the preferred pastime for European high society and celebrities.

THE ANATOMY OF THE COURT

A Padel court is a masterpiece of engineering, designed for high-intensity rallies. Measuring 20m x 10m, it is enclosed by glass and metallic mesh, which are integral parts of the game.

The Scoring

Padel uses the same scoring system as tennis (15, 30, 40, Game). Most professional matches are best of three sets, with a Golden Point used in World Padel Tour format.

Underhand Serve

Unlike tennis, all serves in Padel must be underhand and struck at or below waist level. The serve must land in the opponent's service box diagonally across the net.

Walls in Play

Players can allow the ball to hit the glass walls after it has bounced once on the ground. You can even hit the ball against your own glass wall to pass it over the net!
